203 Debate #2

Ancient Greece: Sparta v. Athens

The great Athenian political philosopher, Plato, was critical of Athens and admired Sparta. In fact the utopian society he described in "Plato's Republic" resembles Sparta much more than Athens. Our second debate will address the following resolution.

Resolved: Sparta was more admirable than Athens.

The Affirmative team will argue in favor of the resolution. The Negative team will argue for the opposing view, that Athens was more admirable.

Both teams debating must break up the topic to make sure that you are not repeating the same argument using the same evidence, and that all parts of your argument are covered.
